If you missed the 28th Kentucky Rural Water Association's Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition in Louisville last week, you missed a lot!

On August 27-29, 2007, a record number of 750 utility professionals gathered in Louisville in support of this year's theme, "Strength in Numbers". While golfers enjoyed the scramble at the beautiful Nevel Meade Golf Course, six hours of continuing education technical training was conducted to begin the Annual Conference on Monday.

The exhibit hall opened Monday afternoon with another record breaking number of 108 exhibits, followed by the evening's President's Reception. Exhibit Hall activities continued on Tuesday morning, including the Exhibitor's luncheon and cash drawings. This year's Best Display award went to C. I. Thornburg Company.

Tuesday afternoon's General Session began with presentations that built on our theme and featured guest speakers Barbara Crow, Louisville Water Company; Hilda Legg, Connect Kentucky; and Donna Marlin, Kentucky Division of Water. The day concluded with the Rural Water Reception and Banquet featuring America's Funniest Professor, Dr. Carl Hurley.

On Wednesday morning we filled the final day with topical concurrent sessions featuring presentations from industry representatives from the ever expanding Rural Water community.

The 28th Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition concluded with the Awards Luncheon where we honored utilities for their great work over the past year. This year's prestigious Wooden Bucket Award was presented to Columbia Utilities Commission.
